Journaling: 3 Tips to Make it Easier
I keep running into people who want to try journal writing but find it intimidating or too complicated. This can be rooted in the need for control, something people who struggle with anxiety know all too well. Addressing your mindset about the practice should help. Here are 3 tips to remember.
1. Journaling is a tool.
It works for many, not for all. It is okay to choose not to do it. If you try it and don't like it, it's okay to stop. Life goes on, there is no harm done.
2. What you write is personal and private.
What you write stays between you, the page and the Creator. You Do Not have to share it with anyone. Write for fun, to release stress or to remember ideas. It is for you, write what you want.
3. There are no rules, just techniques to try.
There is no right or wrong way to journal. Be kind to yourself. Try different journals. Try writing at different times of the day. When you find something you like, keep doing it.
***Remember, journaling is a tool available in digital form and good old fashioned paper and pen. Comparison kills, so try it for yourself to find out if it works for you. If not, that's cool. There are other tools out there that may fit your needs better. Do you.
