Throughout history, communities of all backgrounds have benefitted from the work of black women. It's no secret that the heart and soul of black women is infused into America's DNA from all the nursing, nurturing and faith that exudes from such resilient people.

I recently attended a prayer breakfast at Mt. Vernon MBC in Detroit held in conjunction with their Women's Day celebration. The event served as the writing prompt for the piece below. The picture in the thumbnail image is from the t-shirt the women wore for the event. Enjoy!

Faithful to a fault the commitment is clear. God is a refuge for those who persevere. Women who pray recognize the source of their strength. Women who pray trust God to be true to His word for guidance and grace. To draw near to the Father by abiding in the Son, a God-fearing woman shows wisdom in worship, diligence in work.

When black women pray, families are covered by their faith, restored in relationship with Jesus and united by determination to stand firm on the rock of salvation. 

When black women pray, communities grow stronger and the village is refreshed. Women who pray do not give up, but press toward the mark of their redemption.

When black women pray, children remember their creator and return to obedience. When women pray, men step up lest they get left back.

When black women pray, heaven smiles and rejoices.
