Grace in the crossroads of life is a blog of essays, articles and poetry that highlights the grace that is sometimes hard to see clearly. Sometimes the process of dealing with our issues must be addressed so we can heal and appreciate the grace shown to us.

Dauntless

Dauntless

Dare to be different...what does that mean? I don’t dare to be different, I am. Without trying. I’m different from anyone else, always have been. Sure we have commonalities. Even qualities we share are unique because each individual has their own style. We like what we like, protect what we love and flaunt our uniqueness with no effort.

It is doubtful that a person who tries to be different is being authentic to who they are. Trying something new is something everyone does whether it is accepted or not. Even if something is new to one person doesn’t mean it is new to someone else. It is possible buying into the dare to be different philosophy is partly responsible for some people thinking there is something wrong with them as they are. This can be a positive or negative. For some it’s a push of motivation. Maybe the phrase should be dare to be yourself. I wonder what kind of growth and enlightenment that could lead to.

If we dare to be ourselves, we discover what makes us different and unique. We may discover what we were looking for was always there, inside, waiting to be seen, loved and appreciated. Maybe the phrase is not the problem but our perception of it. I don’t know. The thought popped into my head and I ran with it. Contemplating thoughts that turn into pages of journal entries is one of the quirks of being a writer I guess. So go ahead and dare, just to find out where it leads. If nothing else, it will likely be a fun, educational and fulfilling journey.

Dare to be You

Dare to Love

Dare to move forward

Dare to rise up

Live what you believe

Love who you are
